Jnana was founded in 1995 with the primary goal of enabling legal, regulatory, and compliance systems to be created and deployed over the Internet and Intranet by non-programmers. Jnana's principals have substantial real-world experience, at senior levels, in the fields of law and technology.

Jnana’s founder and CEO, Fred Parnon, has spent over twenty-five years focusing on the automation of legal expertise. Prior to founding Jnana, Fred was a litigation partner in the firm of Lord Day & Lord, Barrett Smith, where he served as Chairman of the firm’s Technology Committee. Fred was also a litigation partner in the New York office of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart. Fred graduated from Princeton University and from Yale Law School.

Jnana’s co-founder and VP of Professional Services, Chris Grau, has spent over twenty years in the field of expert system design and development. Prior to joining Jnana, Chris was East Coast Regional Consulting Manager for Inference Corporation, a leading developer of knowledge-based software applications. For the prior seven years at Inference, Chris designed complex commercial expert systems for customers including American Airlines, the United States Air Force and the National Emergency Airborne Command Post. Chris also designed and coded mortgage underwriting systems and other systems for financial service clients. Chris received a BA in Applied Mathematics from UCLA.

Jack Lynch has been a director of the company since 1996. Mr. Lynch is currently a member of the three-person Executive Board and Senior Vice President of Business Development at Wolters Kluwer.
